An incomplete or inaccurate academic result can delay a person from being eligible for NYSC. Some polytechnics in Nigeria have made it an habit of concealing the results of students until their final year. This makes it difficult for students to track their academic results before the NYSC mobilization time. Many students have been victims of this in their process of NYSC mobilization.

3. Outstanding School Clearance

Many polytechnics in Nigeria are fond of delaying students who have not paid school fees, library fees or departmental dues. If you don’t pay this on time, you might experience delay in your NYSC mobilization process.

1. Check JAMB Matriculation List

The first thing to do in preparation for your NYSC mobilization process is to check your name in JAMB Matriculation List. This list contains the names of students recognized by JAMB and your school who are eligible students of the institution.

If you name doesn’t show, kindly check the Records Unit of Student Affairs Division of your polytechnic. Ensure you carry all necessary documents with you to rectify this situation. Some important documents to take along with you include: JAMB Admissions Letter, Your Polytechnic Notification of Admissions Letter and O’Level results.

2. Pay Up All Debts Early

In order not to get held back, it is important that you pay up all outstanding dues as a polytechnic student. These may include department dues, faculty dues, clearance fee (if applicable in your polytechnic), school fees, library fees, and others.

If you’ve paid these dues in the past, ensure that you still possess the receipt of this payments with you. You could do a photocopy of these receipts in case, you’re asked to submit it. The earlier you make this receipts available, the faster your NYSC mobilization process will be.

3. Verify Your Academic Records

Asides from checking if all your results has been verified by your polytechnic, look out for other details. You need to check if the names of your O’Level results and JAMB results are the same. Also, the name that you use for school should also be aligned with your O’Level results. This details and information should not be left behind when verifying. If your names appear differently, kindly consult the Students Affairs Division of your polytechnic for help early.

4. Use The NYSC Portal Early

Another helpful tip you should have in mind is to use the NYSC Portal early. When NYSC opens the portal, register immediately to avoid last-minute hurry which may come with technical issues.
