The National Youth Service Corps has released deployment details for its 2026 Batch A Stream 1 prospective corps members, confirming that call-up letters are now available for printing.
The scheme announced this on Monday via its official X handle, revealing deployment arrangements for corps members posted to Lagos State and the Federal Capital Territory.
Overflow Posting Arrangements
Due to camp capacity limitations, some prospective corps members deployed to Lagos and FCT will undergo orientation programs in neighboring states.
“Some prospective corps members deployed to Lagos will have their orientation course in Ekiti, Kwara, Ondo, Ogun and Osun camps while some deployed to FCT will be in Kaduna, Niger and Nasarawa camps,” NYSC stated.
The arrangement follows earlier reports that only about 40 percent of registered prospective corps members can be accommodated for the upcoming orientation program due to camp capacity constraints.
Orientation Camp Dates
The 2026 Batch A Stream 1 orientation course is scheduled to commence on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, across all 37 NYSC orientation camps nationwide.
Camp registration for all corps members will run from Wednesday, January 21 to midnight of Friday, January 23, 2026. The swearing-in ceremony holds on Friday, January 23, 2026, while the closing ceremony will take place on Tuesday, February 10, 2026.
Concessional Posting Requirements
For married female prospective corps members seeking concessional posting based on marital grounds, NYSC requires the following documents:
- Marriage certificate
- Identity of husband
- Letter of place of domicile from husband
These documents must be uploaded to complete the application for concessional posting.
Strict Discipline Policy
Last week, NYSC announced it would not tolerate any form of indiscipline as the 2026 Batch A orientation course begins. The scheme emphasized maintaining high standards of conduct during the three-week orientation program.
What Prospective Corps Members Should Do
Corps members should:
- Print their call-up letters immediately from the NYSC portal
- Verify their orientation camp location carefully
- Prepare all required documents for camp registration
- Note that registration closes at midnight on January 23, 2026
- Travel during daylight hours for safety
Those deployed to Lagos or FCT should pay special attention to their call-up letters to confirm which neighboring state camp they’ve been assigned to for orientation.
Background on Camp Capacity
NYSC’s decision to spread Lagos and FCT corps members to neighboring states reflects ongoing challenges with camp infrastructure. With thousands of graduates mobilized each batch, the scheme’s 37 orientation camps face capacity constraints, particularly in high-density states like Lagos and FCT.
The 2026 Batch A Stream 1 orientation marks the beginning of another service year, with corps members expected to complete their one-year mandatory national service by early 2027.
