The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced a new date for the 2025 Mock Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), shifting it from April 5 to April 10, 2025. The rescheduling is aimed at enhancing the examination process, ensuring a smoother experience for candidates.
The announcement was made through JAMB’s Public Communications Advisor, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, who explained that the change was necessary to accommodate additional examination centers and implement key innovations for a better testing environment.
“This adjustment is to ensure that more centers are ready to deliver an improved examination experience for candidates,” Dr. Benjamin stated.
Despite the shift in the Mock UTME date, JAMB confirmed that the schedule for the main 2025 UTME remains unchanged. The main examination will still take place between April 25 and May 9, 2025 as previously planned.
The board reassured candidates that this change will not affect their overall preparation timeline, urging them to stay informed about further updates regarding their exam centers and schedules.
JAMB also informed registered candidates that details about their Mock UTME notification slips—which include exam centers, dates, and times—will be made available soon.
The board encouraged all candidates to use this additional preparation time effectively to familiarize themselves with the Computer-Based Test (CBT) format, which the mock exam is designed to simulate.
“We advise candidates to take advantage of this time to refine their preparation strategies and ensure they are ready for both the mock and main UTME,” JAMB advised in its statement.
Why the Mock UTME is Important
The JAMB Mock UTME is an optional exam designed to help candidates:
- Get familiar with the CBT format before the main exam.
- Reduce anxiety and improve time management skills.
- Identify areas that need improvement before the actual UTME.
With the new date set for April 10, 2025, JAMB remains committed to ensuring a transparent, fair, and efficient examination process for all candidates across Nigeria.
