The National Examinations Council (NECO) has issued an urgent public warning, disowning a fake Facebook account created in the name of its Registrar and Chief Executive, Professor Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi.

According to a statement released on June 1st, 2025, the Council confirmed that the fraudulent account was set up with the intention of deceiving unsuspecting members of the public. NECO emphasized that it has no affiliation with the account and urged everyone to remain cautious.

“The Council wishes to draw the attention of the public to the existence of this fake Facebook account in order to avoid being swindled by the fraudsters,” the statement read.

NECO further revealed that security agents have been notified and are taking the necessary steps to investigate and take appropriate action against those responsible for the fake profile.

The notice was signed by Azeez Sani, the Acting Director of Information and Public Relations.
