As of today 2nd June 2025, The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has reportedly begun the payment of outstanding allowance arrears.
Multiple reports and verified screenshots circulating online confirm that the NYSC has started crediting former Corps members with ₦44,000 each — the amount owed to balance up the new minimum wage-adjusted allowance.
Why the Payment?
The arrears date back to when the monthly Corps allowance was increased from ₦33,000 to ₦77,000, in line with the implementation of the new national minimum wage in 2023. While serving Corps members received the new rate from the time of the change, many who had completed their service before full implementation did not receive their balance — until now.
