The National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) has announced plans to digitalize its exam processes to improve efficiency and reduce malpractice. This was revealed by the new Registrar and Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Mohammed Aminu, during a meeting with staff at the board’s headquarters in Benin City.

Dr. Aminu stated that NABTEB will speed up the digitalization of its exam services, including registration, result processing, and certificate issuance. He emphasized, “We will accelerate the digitalization of our examination processes, from registration to result processing and certificate issuance, to enhance efficiency and reduce errors.”

To keep up with global trends, NABTEB plans to expand Computer-Based Testing (CBT) for more subjects. This will improve the exam experience for candidates and ensure faster result processing.

NABTEB will introduce new security measures like biometric verification and encrypted question papers to prevent cheating and maintain the credibility of its exams. Dr. Aminu highlighted this, saying, “We will strengthen security by implementing biometric verification and encrypted question papers, ensuring the integrity of our exams and boosting public confidence in our certification process.”

Recognizing the importance of staff in this transition, Dr. Aminu assured that NABTEB will invest in staff training and development. He stated, “We will prioritize staff training and development, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary skills to navigate the evolving digital examination landscape.”

NABTEB will work with schools, government agencies, and industry leaders to improve the examination system. Dr. Aminu stressed, “NABTEB will further engage schools, technical institutions, government agencies, and industry partners to tackle challenges and drive systemic improvements.”

NABTEB has already made strides toward modernization. In 2022, it launched the NABTEB Digital Certificate Platform (NDCP), allowing candidates to access their certificates online. This also enables employers and tertiary institutions to verify certificates quickly.

This digital transformation aligns with Nigeria’s vision of improving technical education and ensuring that exams are faster, safer, and more reliable.
