NYSC camps open Wednesday, and your fingerprints decide your registration

NYSC Batch C Stream II camps open on November 4, and corps members who fail the biometric check won't be registered. See the rules to know before you travel.

Orientation camps for the NYSC Batch C Stream II service year open on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, in all 36 states and the FCT, and registration at camp closes at midnight on Friday, November 6. The National Youth Service Corps says on its mobilisation guidelines page that “those who cannot be verified with their biometric at the orientation camp will not be registered”, which makes the fingerprints you gave during online registration the first thing that has to work when you arrive.

With three days left before camps open, most prospective corps members have their call-up letters and travel plans sorted. The rules that catch people out at the gate are less about paperwork and more about identity, health and timing, and NYSC has spelt several of them out on its mobilisation and registration guidelines.

Remember which fingers you used, because nobody can register for you

NYSC tells prospective corps members to remember the fingers they used for biometric capture, since those are the ones you’ll be verified with at camp. If you’re not sure which ones you used, try to confirm it before you travel rather than guessing in front of the scanner on registration day.

The guidelines also state that registration by proxy is not allowed. A friend or relative can’t stand in line with your documents while you travel later, so you have to be physically present before the midnight cut-off on November 6. Aim to arrive on November 4 or 5, which leaves room to sort out a failed fingerprint scan or a mismatch in your details before the window shuts.

Pregnant and nursing mothers won’t be accommodated in camp

NYSC’s guidelines say the orientation camp is not ideal for pregnant women and nursing mothers, and that they will not be accommodated there. If that applies to you, contact the NYSC office in your state of deployment before you travel so you know how your registration will be handled, rather than finding out at the camp gate.

Married women were asked to upload a marriage certificate, evidence of any change of name and their husband’s place of domicile during online registration. If your name on the call-up letter is different from the name on your certificates, carry the originals of those documents with you so the officials at camp can match them.

A fake document ends the service year before it starts

The scheme warns that anyone who presents a fake document will be demobilised, removed from camp and handed over to law enforcement for prosecution. Only take documents issued to you by your institution and the relevant bodies, and if anything on your call-up letter is wrong, such as your name, date of birth or course, raise it with your school’s Student Affairs office or NYSC rather than paying someone to “fix” it.

Graduates who had trouble earlier in the mobilisation process because of NIN and JAMB records may want to read our report on JAMB’s NIN alignment service for graduates locked out of NYSC. For the full timetable of this stream, including what happens after the closing ceremony, see our earlier guide to the Batch C Stream II orientation dates.

Know your camp address and the number to call before you board

NYSC publishes the location of every state’s camp on its orientation camp addresses page, so check yours and share it with family before you leave. The scheme also runs a 24/7 distress call centre on 6972 and an email address, info@nysc.gov.ng, for problems on the road or at camp.

The one thing no document can replace on Wednesday is your own fingerprint. Arrive early enough to fix a failed scan, go in person, and keep your marriage or change-of-name papers with you if your names differ, and the registration desk should be the shortest part of your three weeks in camp.
